In an effort to recognize the hard-working personnel of the City of Cape May, Manager Paul Dietrich continues a city-wide recognition program to honor “employees of the month”. The objective is to recognize employees who show exemplary individual achievement, contribution, and performance in their jobs. These individuals consistently exhibit a positive and supportive attitude and make contributions beyond the usual expectations of their employment.
Peers can nominate each other, building a stronger comradery amongst the workforces. Management, Department Heads, and Supervisors are not eligible to be nominated, allowing recognition to solely focus on the hard-working City employees that make the City a success daily.
Under the authorization of the City Manager, the Employee of the Month Committee consists of voluntary Supervisors from each Department who will review nominations and select the winner for each month.
City Manager Paul Dietrich recognized Marie Bagnaro as the City’s September 2024 Employee of the Month during the October 15th Council Meeting.
Marie has been a seasonal employee with the Department of Public Works for the past 9 years. City Manager Paul Dietrich points out that “even as a longtime seasonal employee, her fellow employees felt she rose to the occasion to be recognized.”
This year, Marie has been responsible for the cleaning of City Hall, where she comes in with an upbeat, positive attitude. She does her job with not only the speed of an entire team, but the attention that City Hall deserves. Marie is the kind of employee that when she’s not around, you notice. According to her coworkers, the value of a good employee isn’t simply judged by what they do or how they do it, but how their character affects the morale of those around them, and Marie is a prime example of what everyone should strive to be.
No matter what your job or title, what matters at the end of the day is what’s inside, and inside City Hall is the hardworking Marie Bagnaro!
